Simon Barry came to Iraq to establish the Op Matrix US Reconstruction oversight contract in 2004; at that time the largest security contract in history. In 2005 he ran the Iraq Referendum and Elections security and logistic oversight project for the UN. Since then, as well as in Iraq, he has worked extensively in Africa for blue chip companies like Rio Tinto, De Beers, and also Far East. He holds an MSc in Risk Management. 32 years in the British Army’s Parachute Regiment was concluded by a post in the MoD Air Operations Branch managing air support to Airborne and Special Forces, after having been Regimental Colonel. Previous service includes several operational theatres, 48 Gurkha Infantry Brigade as Chief of Staff and formation of the Pathfinders.
